US Military Struck a 'Large Facility' in Venezuela, Trump Stated Lacking Providing Details.

Ex-President Trump has claimed that US forces hit a "major facility" in the South American country last week. Yet, the former president did not specify the precise nature or location of the target, and there has been no further clarification from his administration.

Vague Comments Offered During a Radio Interview

"US forces just eliminated – I'm not sure if you heard – they have a big plant, where the vessels depart from. Recently, we knocked that out. So we struck them decisively," Trump reportedly told GOP supporter and supermarket owner John Catsimatidis in a recent interview.

Potential Significance of a Confirmed Attack

If a American strike is verified, it would constitute the first attack on Venezuelan soil since the US Department of Defense began a buildup of American strike forces in the Caribbean region to halt drug traffickers that the Trump administration claims operate under the orders of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

The original mission of the military buildup has evolved into a quarantine aimed at disrupting the nation's crude oil shipments.

Social Media Video and Administration Statements

Trump has for some time warned that US forces are poised to expand the operations by attacking targets inside Venezuela, a move that would theoretically require congressional authorization.

Video footage posted online on 24 December purportedly showed an detonation allegedly from an industrial area in Zulia state. Yet, the footage or the facility has not been corroborated.

An official from Trump's team reportedly told a media outlet that the former president was referring to a drug facility in his comments.

Reaction and Ongoing Military Situation

The Venezuelan government has issued no statement on the alleged strike the former president referenced. Furthermore, there have been no corroborating news from Venezuela concerning it.

The buildup of US military in the area – a posture some have termed a naval quarantine – represents the broadest naval operation of Trump's presidency.

Sources have avoided from describing the action as a blockade, but have stated that around 15,000 personnel are positioned across the Caribbean and the Gulf, including a carrier strike group, advanced fighter jets, and Coast Guard cutters to implement existing sanctions.
