Earick Rules Out Spurs Takeover Bid Post-Initial Contact
The former chairman directed Tottenham's relocation to the club's new home in 2019.
US technology mogul Brooklyn Earick has rejected submitting an official acquisition offer for the North London club.
The club had previously “clearly turned down” an unofficial approach from a investment group spearheaded by the American last month and stated the team was unavailable for purchase.
But the nation's corporate governance laws dictated that, after an informal proposal turned down, the interested parties had to submit a bid by late October or declare they would not do so.
Confirmation of the decision was issued in a announcement issued by the club to the financial markets, stating the club is “not in an takeover phase.”
Earick posted an snapshot of the release on online platforms, remarking: “I've had a privilege discussing with Tottenham Hotspur and the Lewis family's representatives over the past few months.
“I have great respect for the team, its executives, and its fans, and desire only the best.”
The club's board acknowledged the group for its “constructive approach” in talks and for “acknowledging the firm stance” of the proprietors that the club is unavailable.
Earick is a former DJ who also worked in space technology for NASA before creating his technology firm, which focuses on tech, communications, sport and leisure.
Earick's proposal was the third inquiry rejected by the club's board since the abrupt resignation of executive chairman Levy in the fall.
Earlier in September, the organization rejected proposals from ex-Newcastle investor Amanda Staveley's PCP International and a group headed by Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng through Firehawk Holdings Limited.
Daniel Levy and his family hold about thirty percent of Enic Sports & Developments Holdings Ltd – which has an almost 87% interest in the club.
Levy was the English top flight's most enduring chair and is estimated to have earned more than £50m during his nearly 25 years in the capacity.
Yet he was also the focus of frequent demonstrations by Spurs fans, particularly last term as home competition outcomes proved below expectations.
Spurs claimed their major honor in 17 years when they overcame United in the May continental decider.
