Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Fighters Group

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in influence within the city.

Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure are included.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of characters who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.

This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.

Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing started the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.

Casimir then cleared his debts and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks retribution.
  • Kattigan has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their position as key figures in the influential clan could enable the party reach locations they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and Wicander defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by the clan.

This leaves them little choice but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Explorers and Schemers parties.

Fans can anticipate learning which characters will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
